About Cast Cancer Awareness Ribbons…

Each ribbon is cast from durable epoxy resin and individually tinted to more or less match the colors commonly associated with each type of cancer. The colors currently listed in this shop are what I can reasonably replicate .

There will be variations in color and the individual ribbons may look different, color wise, when you hold it in your hand vs. the color you see on the screen.

As these are essentially plastic they are susceptible to deformation when exposed to higher heat. A practical examples of this is hanging from a rear view mirror in a hot car or on a car's dashboard. They seem to be fine in direct sunlight. Please take care in these conditions.

Inspiration

Over the last several years cancer has been a common topic around our house. Friends, family members, acquaintances, family of friends... I’ve tried to put myself in the position of someone dealing with a potentially terminal illness and wonder how I would manage the mortal thoughts that I would inevitably face.

"Three Pillars and a Sledge Hammer."

Strength, Courage, and Hope being the Pillars with the wildcard being the Sledge Hammer. Strength to endure, Courage to face the unknown, and Hope to make it all worthwhile.  When all else fails I have the Sledge Hammer handy to bust down walls I built up around me.

I am much more than an illness I have or symptom I am experiencing.

Keep on moving with your head high and a purposeful step! This is the result of being inspired by many people over the last few years. I wanted to make something tangible from it all. A reminder for myself. Perhaps some other people will find this useful as well.

About Working Together…

I wanted this project to work towards helping people as directly as possible. The simplest way for me to realize this goal is by doing  what I can in terms of creating something  new and unique and working with  an organization that is already set up to distribute what money can be raised from this. I am familiar with a  a local organization that is aligned very closely with this goal.

Arms Around Bainbridge-

"Arms Around Bainbridge provides financial and other support to individuals and families in the Bainbridge Island, Washington community who are facing financial difficulties due to cancer or other serious illness."

20% of the proceeds of each cancer ribbon sold will be donated to this organization.
